10 Reasons We Love Victoria Beckham

10 Reasons We Love Victoria Beckham

Love her or loathe her, there is no denying the fact that Victoria Beckham is undoubtedly the Queen of reinvention.  From Posh Spice to football WAG to successful fashion entrepreneur, she certainly has accomplished a lot in her 50 years.

It’s fair to say, she played a crucial role in shaping pop culture in the late 1990’s and early 2000’s, influencing music, fashion and lifestyle. For someone who once famously quoted that she would like to be like to be as well-known as ‘Persil Automatic’ one day – it’s safe to say, that goal has definitely been achieved.

For me, she was my favourite Spice Girl.  In fact, I had a bob haircut like hers so of course, I naturally thought I was her.  I followed her fashion choices meticulously and I’m happy to say I was borderline obsessed (weren’t we all back in the day?).  Admittedly, I made sure I was first in line to buy her long-forgotten style guide in 2006 – ‘That Extra Half an Inch’ which was my Bible back then.

So, on that note, here are 10 reasons, to love Victoria Beckham.

1.    She doesn’t take herself too seriously.  Despite her cool exterior, Victoria Beckham has a great sense of humour which comes across brilliantly on Instagram especially in her interactions with David Beckham.

2.    Fashion might be in her blood, but there’s more to VB than her love for insanely beautiful clothes.  The designer is also known for her humanitarian endeavours and uses her social media platforms to promote some of the causes closest to her heart – such as ‘Mothers 2 Mothers’.

3.    Overcoming personal and professional challenges, she has shown resilience and determination, inspiring many with her journey.  She faced notoriously harsh criticism from the British press during the 1990’s and early 2000’s along with David Beckham which has been well documented on the recent Netflix series about the footballer.

4.    She proved her critics wrong after Posh Spice and solo pop-star endeavours and reinvented herself as the face of women empowerment by building an internationally renowned fashion brand.  While everyone was laughing at the next venture, she was busy laying the foundation to what she has in place today.

5.    She provides us with frequent humorous and easy-on-the-eye moments of David Beckham which we are most grateful for.  Keep them coming Victoria!

6.    VB has never worked with a stylist, and she never will.  She doesn’t need one, but she has made it clear that she is the author of her own looks – she doesn’t want someone else to have all the fun. Her impeccable fashion choices and trendsetting looks have earned her recognition as a global fashion icon.

7.    Posh and Becks is just pure nostalgia.  They go hand-in-hand.  They turned themselves into a brand which we all bought into back in the 90’s and early noughties.

8.    Her Satin Kajal Eyeliners from the Victoria Beckham Beauty range are up there as one of my ultimate favourite eye makeup products. Super creamy, they don’t irritate the eyes, and they do not budge. VB loves a smokey eye and personally demonstrates how she uses her own line of products on her social media channels.

9.    She’s best friends with Eva Longoria, (a friendship that has spanned for 16 years) who has stated that VB is ‘extremely loyal’ and the ‘funniest person’.

10. Claim-to-fame time, I did see the Spice Girls live in Wembley in 2007 at London’s 02 arena with my sisters.  Somehow, we got premiere lounge access after the concert where Victoria Beckham’s parents and family were hanging out.  We got chatting to her parents and brother who were so welcoming and the friendliest people.  I never forgot that moment and reiterated how loving her family is and how family is so important to her.

To conclude, I’ll leave you with some wise words from Victoria Beckham:

“I was never a natural, I got there in the end because I believe that if you work hard enough, then you can achieve a lot”.
