RAEMONA REVIEWS // Iftar Nights at Yalumba

One of the best parts of Ramadan (aside from the shorter work hours) is indulging in Iftar across the city's top restaurants.

We were invited to Le Meridien Dubai for an exclusive preview of Yalumba’s Iftar spread, an experience that promised a modern, eclectic twist on tradition. But did it live up to our expectations of the perfect Iftar?

When we entered the location, we were welcomed with a special drink which was extremely refreshing (which is great as we are moving into slightly hotter times during Ramadan) and had a hint of rose which accentuated the Arabic flavours.

The food spread was amazing! There were BBQ stations outside grilling up delicious meats and fresh seafood, while inside, you could enjoy a variety of salads and Arabic/Southeast Asian dishes. I had some Shish Tawook and grilled prawns—they were tasty, though I wish they had a bit more flavour. For appetizers, I tried lentil soup and cheese sambousek, and I became totally obsessed with the sambousek. The appetizers were incredible - so so good.

The dessert lineup really took the cake (pun intended)! The selection was every sweet tooth’s dream. From Pistachio Kunafa Cheesecake to a variety of Arabic-inspired sweets and more, it was nearly impossible to try just one - my plate was absolutely piled high!

They even give you a little present of chocolates to take away and continue the experience at home. However, the highlight of the experience had to be the special dessert stall, where a traditionally dressed Emirati woman prepared crepes filled with Nutella. It was the perfect tribute to this beautiful country and the rich traditions of Ramadan.

Overall, Yalumba’s Iftar was absolutely delicious, served in a relaxed, laid-back atmosphere - just what you need after a full day of fasting,
