Review // Summer Staycation Package at The Retreat MGallery Palm Dubai

24 hours of pure relaxation is just what this mum needed during the chaos of prepping for summer.

It has been open for seven years now on The Palm Jumeirah and as a lover of everything wellness, I am surprised I have never found an excuse to visit The Retreat MGallery Palm Dubai. So, when the opportunity presented itself in the busy run up to the summer holidays, I was there before you could say ‘45 degrees in the shade’.

The summer staycation package which is described as ‘The Ultimate Recharge’ is something I think all mums need to gift themselves as an end-of-term or surviving- summer gift. Let me explain why…

On arrival to the hotel, I enjoyed a beautifully curated afternoon tea in Chapters lounge - vegan, keto and paleo-friendly versions are available if you prefer. What a delight to not look at my laptop and just be in the moment with a delicious spread of cakes and sandwiches all to myself.

I couldn’t help feeling a pang of guilt as I checked into a premium one-bedroom suite for some uninterrupted me-time – the kids would love this. But soaking in the amazing views of the ocean and Palm Jumeirah, before relaxing on the sofa in a fluffy white robe, with nowhere to be and nobody calling my name…any doubts slipped away.

Around 5pm, Rayya Wellness invited me to experience the Turquoise Serenity Deep Sleep massage which is as relaxing and soothing as it sounds. I followed this up with a blow-dry, 30 minutes of oxygen therapy and a mani-pedi. The spa experience was wonderful and the perfect way to wind down for the evening.

I took a late dinner at Vibe restaurant which is a light and airy all-day dining concept – and the theme on that evening was Italian so I loaded up on pasta and pizza as I listened to the live music and sat with the rather unusual feeling of having ‘dinner for one’. Back in my room I got ready for bed and settled into a Bridgerton marathon before a gorgeous eight-hour sleep.

The hotel offers copious different treatments and wellness related practices and the next morning I was able to try a breathwork session followed by yoga which was an amazing to start the day - thanks to Vishnu for taking the time to understand what I needed from the session. This was followed by an in-body analysis where the experts tell you about your body composition, hydration and other insightful stats which can help you to optimise your diet, exercise and lifestyle

Then I enjoyed a healthy breakfast and some quiet reflection time before checking out of my room rather reluctantly, but it was my daughter’s last day of nursery, so I had places to be.

I can’t recommend a visit to The Retreat enough. It’s a real hidden gem and so many of us could benefit from spending more time there – whether that’s just for a few hours or for a weekend – the relaxation starts the minute you step inside. The pool and beach area looked perfect and lots of people were enjoying the facilities despite the scorching temperatures. If you’re looking for something a bit different, check out the Memorable Moments package which is on my list for when we are back from our summer travels.
